EA Team Role Definition

Just read a great definition of the role of the EA team in META Group, Inc. - Enterprise Architecture: Answers You Should Have (Meta Account Required),

"EA provides guidance for the selection, creation, and implementation of solutions and related technologies within the context of requirements to meet business strategies."

I'm always looking for these one-liners that work in presentations. And actually, this Meta Practice (EPAS Practice 2110) is good for all kinds of answers to typical questions I've gotten about EA.

Another curious thing I've been thinking about is writing about and linking to things I read by Meta which I know others will not have access to. Will this alienate readers? Will this open up discussion on Meta articles to a community that does have access and wants to write / communicate about it?

On another Meta website note, they do a horrible job of hyper-linking in their documentation on the website. They rarely, if ever, link the numerous references to other Meta Practices / Deltas / Etc. in their documents, leading to frequently frustrating searches and text scanning to find the actual referenced document. Embrace the web!

Now that you've read Fortune's diet truths, you'll be prepared the next
time some housewife or boutique-owner-turned-diet-expert appears on TV
to plug her latest book. And, if you still feel a twinge of guilt for
eating coffee cake while listening to her exhortations, ask yourself
the following questions:

(1) Do I dare trust a person who actually considers alfalfa sprouts a
food?
(2) Was the author's sole motive in writing this book to get rich
exploiting the forlorn hopes of chubby people like me?
(3) Would a longer life be worthwhile if it had to be lived as
prescribed ... without French-fried onion rings, pizza with
double cheese, or the occasional Mai-Tai? (Remember, living
right doesn't really make you live longer, it just *seems* like
longer.)

That, and another piece of coffee cake, should do the trick.

Fortune's Real-Life Courtroom Quote #19:

Q: Doctor, how many autopsies have you performed on dead people?
A: All my autopsies have been performed on dead people.
